The boy won...for tonight!

How did he do it!?!  I can’t believe my three year old defeated me!  Here goes:

I’m trying to watch Grey’s Anatomy at 7pm instead of 10pm so I can get to bed early.  I’m folding a mountain of laundry when The Boy starts his routine of annoy Mommy while she works.  Can I help Mommy?  If I push over all these neat little piles that’s helping, right???  NO!  So I take him by the shoulders walk him down the hall to his room and tell him to play with his Choo-Choo (aka Thomas the Tank Engine set).  I leave and get back to work and the plot line when I hear this shaking sound.  It’s the sound of many plastic parts rattling around in a card board box.  Walking down the hall with a suspicious look on my face I find my child with the box that contains the plastic battery-powered train set my mother-in-law gave him.  There is a strange grinding noise emanating from said box.  Upon further investigation, I dumped the whole box on the floor, I found one of his battery powered “Thomas” trains uselessly chugging away amongst the parts.  After turning it off, I then instruct my progeny,

“Boy, (I don’t really call him boy.  I just won’t list his name here.) put the choo-choo back in the box.”

To which he replied, “NO Mommy!” as he stomped his feet.

I then continued with “You will stay in your room until the choo-choo is in the box!” and promptly left to catch the next 15 minutes of Greys.

I come back at the next commercial to find him reading one of his books.  I take the book away and repeat the aforementioned instructions.  Same reaction as before except the use of the “Pouty Lip” is applied.

After another 15 minutes of drama on the TV I come back to find him lying on the floor with his feet pointed at the ceiling rocking back and forth.  Once again, “Boy, put the choo-choo back in the box!”.  He then stands up, crawls into the bed and covers himself saying, “No Mommy, sleep!”.  Okay, at this point I don’t believe him and go back to the last segment of Greys.  Fifteen minutes later I go back to his room and find him ASLEEP!!!  Friggin’ kid won the argument…for today!  I WILL WIN THIS!  Tomorrow when he gets home from daycare there is going to be no TV and no computer games until the GOD DAMN choo-choo is back in the box!  How’s that for parenting!?!

Ciao for now.

Perfect Sundays...:)

I have been having a whole string of perfect Sundays! This is the second Sunday where The Boy has randomly crawled into my lap in the mid afternoon and promptly crashed. I love this little human so friggin’ much!

I went to the Nickelback concert last night with KCh. and Marshy. It was without a doubt the BEST concert that I have ever been too…EVER! Danko Jones sucked clowns, but Live, and Nickelback put on a hell of a show. They both played all my favourites. The only downside to the whole thing was some chick who thought the landing on the stairs closest to us was her own personal platform. She did her “I flick my long hair over my shoulders and its dancing” dance and was pretty much made fun of by the entire section. Did that stop her? No. Oh well, making an idiot of ourselves in public places is a form of self expression…I think.

This past week at work has been hell. My company is being sued and it revolves around how my office does registered letters. I am so friggin’ stressed about going into work tomorrow. I don’t wanna go. I just wanna stay home with my head under the covers and pretend that it’s all going to go away. I’m so stressed that I’m going over with J the plan if I get fired. Yay. Can’t wait to see how this all shakes down.

Anyway, it was too cold to take The Boy on any field trips this weekend. We’ll see how we do next one.

Blog ya later.

Woohooo

Woohooo!!!

My Sweetie is taking me out for a Valentine’s dinner tonight! Don’t know where we are going yet. We’re thinking of the Vietnam Palace, Yang Schen, Mamma Gratzi’s, Azteca’s….Don’t know maybe even somewhere new. Sara is here and playing with the Play Doh with The Boy. Speaking of which, had a great day with him. We all went to the Carlingwood mall for a couple hours. Bought new underwear of everyone, J got a new kitchen doo-hicky, we all went to Harvey’s for lunch and then home. The boy was overall good. There was a wee incident after leaving the play area in the Electronic Boutique that lasted for about 20 minutes. I love tantrums in public places! They make me laugh because they are usually over something so trivial. “MOMMY!!!!! I wanna go back and play with the game cube!!!!” Not like, “MOMMY!!! My arm was just severed and my life blood is spraying the walls!!!”. Although the volume and passion behind the screaming would be on the same scale! :( Anyway, when people stopped and stared at me dealing with the crying with hugs, I just stared them down and said loudly, “He’s a sad boy.” They would either smile or shake their heads in disgust. Their issues, not mine.

Anyway, must go. Time to hop in the car and decide where dinner is!

Nighty Night!

…..

So, I tired to publish the above post before we went out. Didn’t work, couldn’t connect to the server so I saved it. It’s now Sunday morning. Last night was awesome! The boy was happy to see Sara($25) and apparently they got along great. The boy even asked after her when he woke up this morning. J and I ended up at Patty Bolands for a nice informal dinner. We were on the ground floor in the back in a little nook of a table. Snuggling and PDA’s (public displays of affection) were had. J had the cornmeal crusted-saffron aole haddock, while I made due with the vegetable curry sensation. I don’t know why they named it that. There was nothing sensational about it. Flavourless/colourless would be more accurate. Then again they were going for a Thai/Indonesian curry while I’m used to Indian curry that is very flavourful. J and I basically ate off each other’s plate so I had my share of his fish as well. After dinner (75$ with tip) off we went to Oh So Good for cake and coffee at my request($25 with tip). I haven’t been to this place in ages. I had a Chai café latte with a slice of chocolate brownie cheesecake, while J had English Breakfast tea from a mal-designed pitcher, (it leaked on the table whenever you poured from it.), and a slice of “The Real Deal”, which was some sort of chocolate mousse cake with slivered almonds on the top. Neither of us finished, but it was due to richness. So now we are at the end of the evening, the drive home. My tummy, is at this point not happy at me, I don’t know how I made it the 45 min. drive home ‘cause when I finally got there I lost all my dinner. J compared me to the Simpson’s episode where Homer wouldn’t stop eating the giant sandwich that was older then time, I looked all grey and shaky and shivery. He made the bed for me and tucked me in. I feel much better this morning, but Holy God! J ate the exact same things that I did. We shared plates the whole night and he was fine!?! ARG! Oh well, now my only gripe is that how am I supposed to Weight Watcher point out what I threw up and didn’t throw up???? The entire evening came to about $130 with $5 of parking. We both said the same thing, we’re not going out together again until our anniversary in August!

Anyway, The Boy wants some attention.

Ciao for now.

Weekly Update

Weekly Update

Lots of stuff happening this week.  The first three days of my work week were candy-coated Hell.  The boy was getting us up at 3:30 in the morning every night, sometimes twice a night with bathroom issues.  Whether he had peed the bed, had gone pee-pee on the potty, had a nightmare, basically no sleep was had.  By Wednesday night I was beside myself with exhaustion.  I had plans with friends on Tuesday night AND Wednesday night.  I was so crusty I cancelled on both.  Sucks ‘cause I was going out with KCh. for movies on Tuesday and M&G with Teddy on Wednesday.  (  Anyway, Wednesday night we had our first good sleep in almost a week.  Friday was even better so I ws flying high at work.

Speaking of work, The National Capital Race weekend is coming in May.  Our company is a major sponsor of the 10k and 5k.  I’m going to be walking/running the 5k and have started fundraising.  The best thing ever happened!  I convinced my Inn to donate a night at their place for fundraising!!!  I’m going to be doing a raffle on March 3rd.  I can’t wait to see how much money we make on this!

Weighed in today, lost 2 lbs!!!  I love it!  Am back at 154 lbs…again.  I looked through my tracking booklet and I have hit this one about 6 times in the last 6 months.  Ladies and Gentleman, I believe we have a plateau!?!  Mom got her 10 lbs lost ribbon last week!  I’m so friggin’ proud of her!  I booked us in for pedicures as her reward for putting in the work.  We’ll go get funky toes and then off to Rideau Center to go out to lunch and shop.

My sweetie is taking me out for Valentine’s Day this Saturday.  We’re going to the Vietnam Palace on Somerset.  J has been there before and said it was amazing, can’t wait to see if it lives up to all the talk.

Anyway, off to bed.  Can’t wait to sleep in tomorrow!

Ciao for now.

Great weekend so far

Great weekend so far. Friday night was hanging out at home with the boy while J went out to Grisa’s place to watch a basketball game. I ended up getting in my pj’s early and was in bed almost as soon as the kid was asleep. J woke me up a little when he got to bed late, then the boy had to go pee-pee at 3:30 in the morning. He won’t just go down stairs, do his business, and then go back to bed. He wants the acknowledgement that we know he went so he will call and call until someone answers and says he is a good boy. Only thing is we want to SLEEP!!! Arg. Oh well. We were up pretty early with him and got the laundry started, the floors mopped and vacuumed, and the kitchen cleaned up. After that, we all went out to lunch together at Wendy’s and then off to the Agricultural Museum for a family day out. The boy behaved SO well! He was great at lunch, and he was even better checking out the cows and sheep! He would walk up to each animal in the pen and say, “HI COW! HI SHEEP! HI BULL!”. Too cute showing him this kind of stuff for the first time! I can’t wait to take him to the Metro Toronto Zoo!

After we got back from that I still had the itch to travel. I hopped in the car and went to the dealership to check out the Hyundai Sonata for J. He has been trying to talk this car on our list of possible replacement for the Neon for a long time now. Okay, he wins! GREAT looking car! It’s gonna be interesting to see which one we end up with by June. From there it was to St. L. mall for some track extensions for the boy’s Thomas the Tank engine collection, Bayshore for a book for me, pants for J, and some more spice jars for J.

Tomorrow the plan is for me to work some overtime, then over to L&James’s place for me and James coming to our place. We are calling it SPOUSE SWAP 2006! L and I are going to watch Wedding Crashers and the boys are going to nerd out on the computers.

Ciao for now!
